Football intermediaries & Player’s Agents World Association (“FIPAWA”) wishes to inform its network of the decision to cease its activities as an association and to continue the same through its former members within The Football Forum (“TFF”).
Such decision, which follows FIPAWA becoming a member of TFF, is based on the identity of views between the two associations on all issues concerning football activities such as, but not limited to, the protection of the rights and interests of players and agents and the standards of ethics and professionalism.
FIPAWA, moreover, is in full agreement with TFF’s position with respect to FIFA’s intention to introduce a new set of regulations on the activities of football agents, regulations which have the practical scope of jeopardizing the players’ right to professional assistance and drive the vast majority of football agents out of the market by artificially and illegitimately influencing its normal functioning.
In this regard, FIPAWA wishes to emphasize that, after an initial meeting with FIFA, in which the latter had declared to commit to listening and taking in due account all views of FIPAWA on how to improve the currently applicable “FIFA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries”, it became clear that the only intention behind such meeting was that of instrumentalizing FIPAWA’s participation in a process in which neither FIPAWA, nor other agents’ associations, might have actually had any say and influence. Evidence thereof is that, according to FIFA representatives’ public declaration, there is no reflection of any observation or suggestions made by FIPAWA in the content of the Regulations.
By joining TFF, FIPAWA and its former members will find the best environment and conditions to keep on working and fighting for all the values on which FIPAWA was established and in which its members strongly believe.
